Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the technical outcomes, early complications classified by the Clavien-Dindo system, and quality of life following transabdominal preperitoneal (TAPP) inguinal hernia repair utilising self-gripping mesh. A retrospective descriptive study was conducted on patients undergoing TAPP repair with ProGrip™ 10x15cm mesh at Viet Duc University Hospital from 2022 to 2025. Quality of life was assessed using the Carolinas Comfort Scale (CCS). The results from a total of 68 patients with 73 hernias revealed a mean age of 58.47±17.63 years (range: 19-87), a male-to-female ratio of 10.3/1, and a mean BMI of 21.61±2.01 kg/m² (range: 17.2-27.5). Indirect inguinal hernias accounted for the majority at 79.5%. The mean operative time was 93.03±41.59 minutes (range: 30- 208), and the mean postoperative hospital stay was 3.65±1.93 days (range: 2-12). Early complications included grade I (6.8%) and grade II (1.4%). A significant reduction in CCS scores was observed after 12 months (p<0.001), with a mean time to resolution of foreign body sensation of 3.43±1.59 months (range: 1-6). The rates of chronic groin pain and recurrence were 6.9% and 0%, respectively. In conclusion, TAPP inguinal hernia repair with self-gripping mesh is a feasible and effective approach that promotes rapid recovery and ensures a good postoperative quality of life.
