The reality of establishing and developing the research groups in universities in Vietnam today

Abstract

The research group (RG) is considered a cell of scientific research and training. The establishment and development of the research groups in universities play an important role in strengthening the science and technology potential, and the training quality of universities. This paper presents the overview on RGs nationally and internatinonally, and assessment on the reality of RGs in universities in Vietnam today. Achievements, advantages as well as difficulties and limitations, and initial proposal on the formulation and promulgation of policies to promote the establishment and development of RGs are also presented in this paper. Furthermore, the paper also recommends the basic criteria for classifying and evaluating RGs in universities in Vietnam today.
